Well, it's definitely in brand for you, but generally, you would want to see someone's eyes to build trust, so the dark glasses probably wouldn't work for most people.

Appreciate the perspective, Catherine. You bring up a great question: are we trying to build trust via a picture on a screen? (And/or, am I so old-fashioned that I prefer to build trust in offscreen ways...?)

Well, if you're looking for a job or for clients, which is generally why people are on LinkedIn, I think trust is important. We'd have a different conversation about a photo on Instagram.

I love this! You are absolutely right. Self-trust is huge and what many people have underdeveloped. Just because someone is considered an "expert" doesn't always mean they're right for your brand. Thank you for sharing this!

Based on what I'm hearing from LinkedIn "experts," the more unusual profile pic the better. There are thieves out there who are harvesting our picture perfect, passport-worthy LinkedIn profile pics and using them for nefarious purposes. Your violation will soon be the norm ...
