People forget things, no matter how much they enjoy or use them.
That’s why business owners need to remind audiences about what they sell.
Repeatedly.
Take Hopper. It's an app that helps you score travel deals and guides you to easily book flights. I downloaded it years ago and use it almost exclusively to book flights. Unless I forget about it.
See, I don’t have notifications turned on for the app. So after a few years and a few more apps downloaded to my phone, I completely forgot about Hopper. That is, until I received their newsletter and was reminded of its existence.
When’s the last time you used the app SpotHero to find a cheap parking spot? The ResortPass app to book a daycation? Think Dirty to check the chemical makeup of your shampoo? ChatGPT or Copilot to ask the AI bots for a recipe? The big app to type out questions and hold them up to your husband while he’s on the phone so he can’t ignore you?
It’s not just apps. Those socks you love from Darn Tough? You’re not gonna remember where you bought them in 6 months. The graphic designer you met at that networking event – what’s her name again?
Please remind folks that your business exists repeatedly, religiously, and relentlessly.
You're not irritating. You're not annoying. Those are the adjectives only you use out of fear that your persistence is perceived that way.
We know you're doing what you're supposed to do. Keep up the good work.
See you soon,
jill
This is such a great reminder. It’s hard for many of us to “sell ourselves” the first time, but you point out that it’s all a bit wasteful without the reminders. Thank you!
