i love your thoughts
“So, what kind of coach are you?”
I get asked this question a lot.
“It depends” doesn’t seem to suffice. At networking events, my go-to is “I help people make more money.” At spiritual gatherings, “I hold space for the stuck folks.” At a recent virtual mixer, I introduced myself as “yet another darn coach.” As someone who used to wanna get her two-sentence pitch down pat, I've since given up that lifestyle. Because, well, it depends.
Here’s what I do: my job and my joy is to earn the trust of the person I’m in conversation with so they feel safe enough to share the truth about their life. Together, we untangle what’s been woven together over time. It looks different for everyone. Which is why pinning down what kind of coach I am is a pointless exercise. The kind of coach I am depends on the kind of coaching you need.
There aren’t many people I don’t coach. I love to work with business owners who just can’t seem to get there, wherever “there” is. I love to work with people whose personal lives feel unsettled, whether they’re navigating a divorce or they’re at the end of their life. It’s extraordinary work. It’s deeply intimate. Nothing is off the table. Every thought, every feeling, no matter how messy or weird, is welcome.
There are two ways I work with people. The first is in one-on-one conversations. It’s really very simple and it’s really very transformational. The second is in a small group experience. We gather together with like-minded folks who are going through the same things at the same time.
Here’s what I don’t do: solve your problems, therapy, hand out strategy docs, or cheerlead.
If you know you need a change but you don’t know how to get there, that’s where I come in. We dig into what’s going on so that you can figure out what’s in the way and move it.
I love your thoughts, and I’m here for you.
In other news, it's been a prolific podcast guesting year so far. Since we don’t get to see each other enough, here’s where you can find me:
On “The Coaching Inn” with the remarkable Claire Pedrick.
On the “Metabolic Collective Watering Hole,” thanks to Robyn Dobbins (star of the new Cholesterol Code documentary!)
On Casey Ruff’s “Boundless Body Radio.”
On Diane Moca’s “Working Mom Warrior” in her very fancy studio.
On Kimberley Seldon’s “Business of Design” pod.
On Dr. Minesha’s “Peace Driven Leader Lounge” pod.
See you soon,
jill

You are amazing -- and so are your thoughts. It's such an honor to be a part of your transformational group.
Jill, I THINK that at the end of the day, most all, you have been doing, since I met you in the 2000s IS cheerlead, with challenges, and action-oriented pragmatism --of course.
