“When I find the time.”
Where do you usually find it? What has helped you to locate it in the past?
You have the same 24 hours in a day that the rest of us have. What you choose to do with your time is up to you.
If you’re wincing as you read this because you truly don’t feel that you can find the time, schedule an hour of unfound time to examine your calendar and make a change.
“Because no one else in my industry charges that much.”
Let’s reframe that, shall we?
If you raise your prices and charge what you’re worth, then someone in your industry does charge that much, doesn’t she?
Be the one to charge more than your competitors. Just because it hasn’t been done before doesn’t mean that you can’t do it.
“As soon as I make more money.”
If you’re waiting to make more money to do what you want to do, what are you really waiting for?
There’s always an alternative. But put money aside for a second.
What would it take to do it now?
“I’m too old to start now.”
No, you’re not.
This goes hand-in-hand with “I should have known by now” which is never true. You just weren’t ready.
It’s a cousin of “everyone else knew this long ago” and to that I ask: how can you be so sure?
If indeed you’re “too old,” why not make an example of your late start so other latecomers can have permission to start later, too?
“But I’m not confident that it’ll work.”
You don’t need confidence to make it work. You just need to try.
Take your imposter syndrome with you. Sprinkle some anxiety in there. Sweat it out. Moving through it and doing the thing is what’ll make it work.
What are the excuses you create that I forgot to include here?
See you soon,
jill
